Meet Tom

Tom and his wife, Jean, have lived in Wellesley for 28 years with their 4 children.

Serving others and his community has been a life focus for Tom. While living in Wellesley, he has been serving as a Select Board member since 2017, including terms as chair and vice chair. Tom has seen the Town from many angles and has helped solve many issues as a liaison to various boards and committees around town, most notably the Town Hall Renovation Committee and the HHU School Building Committee. He was also elected as a Town Meeting member and has served since 2006. Tom is a past member of the Climate Action Committee, and a member of the Town Government Study Committee. Tom has also served as a board member of Wellesley Friendly Aid, as well as a member of the St. John-St. Paul Collaborative Parish Council, and a trustee of the Vincent Memorial Hospital Corporation (a foundation related to the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Massachusetts General Hospital).

​Before moving to Wellesley, he served as a commissioner on the Town Planning and Zoning Commission in Glastonbury, CT. He also served as a mentor to urban high school students in Belmont; he was an Outward Bound instructor responsible for young men and women in the juvenile justice system in Maine; and he helped to run a 500,000-acre cattle ranch in eastern California, building out the water delivery infrastructure to enhance the viable grazing acreage for the cattle.

Professional Career & Education

Professionally, Tom had a lengthy career as an Assistant District Attorney and Assistant Attorney General in Massachusetts. He retired as chief of the Special Prosecutions Unit in Suffolk County, where he was responsible for prosecutions involving white-collar crime, public corruption, and police misconduct. 

Prior to his 17-year career as an attorney, Tom was a hospital administrator, a healthcare consultant working in healthcare cost containment, and a senior consultant for Arthur D. Little in Cambridge, MA. 

Tom has an undergraduate degree from Harvard, a master’s degree in public health from Yale, and a law degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law.
